I did say almost…be careful out there it’s still better to sip this baby! You must try this one. It’s so thoroughly drinkable that it could almost be confused with lemonade. Where lime is most often the citrus used in margaritas, this cocktail is all lemon, all the time. This Limoncello Margarita Cocktail is definitely one for the lemon lover. My standard margarita requires a fair amount of time to develop it’s perfect flavor from fresh squeezed juices and zest but when in a pinch for time? I’ve often substituted limeade and lemonade for the fresh squeezed juice in that cocktail and it’s why I keep those handy…they worked beautifully again. Though I typically try to keep a fair amount of both lemons and limes on hand, last night I had just enough lemon to make a concoction for the rim with salt, sugar and lemon zest so I reached into an old trick bag I have used before when I want to speed up the process a bit…lemonade concentrate. Which, by the way is why I’m writing this post this morning I was filled with that warm glow from a great meal AND cocktail and just wanted to veg can you blame me? I was SO ready for a real meal after being sick so we sat outside, enjoyed a cocktail (OK, OK…we each had two – the best sign of approval!) and I had the perfect meal to go with them. I didn’t know she was going to bring me soft tacos made with that pulled pork but I did not complain how perfect was that timing? I called to see if she wanted to come over and share and she called me back because she wanted to see if I wanted some of the pulled pork she had made for dinner. She is always game to help me with a cocktail project and it gives us some time to visit and chat too.

I might be highly prejudiced though so have found a willing testing partner in my neighbor Amy. I usually love the margaritas I make once you find a pattern that works, it’s hard to make a big mistake. And I’ve done a lot of them all starting with my eternal favorite, this basic but amazing BEST Margarita ever!ĭespite the fact that today is a bit gloomy and cooler than I would love, I am swinging into summer mode and wanted to share this simple, light and really refreshing Limoncello Margarita with you. There is something about tequila and citrus that just lends itself so beautifully to combinations with every fruit flavor under the sun.

I make no bones about my love for margaritas the truth is I could start a new blog devoted to the margarita. It’s a fantastic light margarita with a nice little bit of pucker power. Bottom line? NO TIME!! So in keeping with the past couple of weeks, I’m again sharing this fantastic Limoncello Margarita from a few years ago. I’m also having a group of 15 Denver bloggers in my home tomorrow to share some tips on photographing cocktails. Quite honestly I had a new cocktail to make but on top of gardening and deck building, this week I added food poisoning. Or a rainy day.I’m back with another favorite from the archives this Limoncello Margarita Cocktail. That one, I could drink by the gallon on a hot day. It is not at all “vegetably”, and it is incredibly refreshing. Of all the others I’ve tried, my other tied-for-favorite choice is the cucumber margarita. It’s got a creamy quality – and I don’t know that I could actually consume more than one per sitting, it’s rather filling. Smooth, indulgent, unexpected and leaves you wanting more. First marg I ever tried here was the avocado – as soon as word came out about it being offered I knew it would be my first victim. I’ve sat and chatted over many a sample before deciding, on more than one occasion. I love that the bartenders will mix you up a sample if you are unsure which drink to order. My favorite place to indulge in the World is La Cava del Tequila. I have to say I do not care for any of the mixer-mass-produced margs – they are nothing better than a slurpee. It’s my favorite indulgence, and I do indulge when I have the chance, especially at WDW.
